Topic: Murder of a national employee of the French NGO ACTED in the region of Kunduz (Afghanistan)
ACTED is sad to announce the death of one of its Afghani employees, who was found murdered today (August 19th, 2008) in the region of Kundunz (Afghanistan). Sheyesta Gul who worked for ACTED as a community trainer was abducted while driving an ACTED vehicle two days ago. The motives behind this murder are still unclear. Afghani’s police forces are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of this tragedy, which has affected ACTED for the first time in Afghanistan since it started its programmes in 1995.
ACTED firmly condemns this shocking act and is collaborating with the relevant authorities in the ongoing investigation. Deeply shocked, ACTED’s employees throughout the world want to convey their thoughts to the family and relatives of Sheyesta Gul, and to all the employees of ACTED Afghanistan.
